Course Syllabus

Course Description:

This course is designed to be an introductory course to high school level/college prep music theory. This course will meet on Fridays online starting January 16, 2026. All lessons will be recorded for replay or review. This course is ideal for students who want a deeper understanding of music, want to learn composition skills, or plan to study music in college.

Course Syllabus:

Lesson 1: Basic Concepts

Lesson 2: Major and Minor Scales and Key Signatures

Lesson 3: Basics of Rhythm

Lesson 4: Intervals

Lesson 5: Triads

Lesson 6 Roman Numerals and Cadences

Lesson 7: Seventh Chords

Lesson 8 Harmonic Progression and Harmonic Function

Lesson 9: Non-Chord Tones

Lesson 10: Melodic Analysis

This is the first run of this course. It will be offered at a discount since I may need to adjust pacing. Cost for this course is $60
